Godfrey Mchunguzi Oyema is a sustainability, climate finance, ESG, strategy and communications professional with over 15 years of experience spanning humanitarian, agribusiness, construction, environmental consulting, tourism and hospitality sectors.
Prior to joining TMRC, he held senior leadership positions with UNHCR, Unilever Tea Tanzania, Growever Infra Pvt. Limited and MTL Consulting Company Limited. His expertise covers climate finance, ESG risk management, sustainability reporting, environmental and social safeguards, biodiversity conservation and sustainable business transformation. Throughout his career, he has contributed to mobilizing more than US$25 million in climate and environmental financing and has supported the implementation of sustainability frameworks aligned with globally recognized standards, including GRI, SASB, TCFD, IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles and the World Bank Environmental and Social Standards.
Godfrey holds an MSc in Biology (Environment and Human Ecology) from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and a BSc in Wildlife Science and Conservation from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a Chartered ESG Investment Manager (CEIM™), Certified Sustainability Reporting Manager (CSRM™), and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), UK. In recognition of his professional contribution to sustainability, he received the 2022 Sustainability Leader Award from Earth Mother Magazine.
